New Look for Older Book Wins Book Cover of the Week Award

"Clavis" by Edward O'Toole received a new book cover design when its publisher, Crystal Dreams Publishing, was sold to a new owner in November 2007. The new cover design, released in early 2008 has now won the Book Cover of the Week Award.

Oshawa, Ontario (MMPUBS.COM) June 12, 2008 – For the second month in a row, one of the books published by Crystal Dreams Publishing has won the coveted Book Cover of the Week Award, issued by author Erin Aislinn.

The winning book is titled "Clavis" and was originally published in April 2006, while Crystal Dreams Publishing was run by its previous owner.  When Multi-Media Publications Inc. acquired the company in November 2007, it immediately set out to prepare new covers for some of the previously-issued books that were not selling well due, in part, to poor cover design.  MMP's cover artist, Troy O'Brien, was engaged to create a new cover that captured the feel of the story and that would attract buyers.  The result, reprinted in early 2008, shows the bronze-age axes highlighted in the story as well as the young woman-turned warrior who is the central character of the saga.

The author of the book, Edward O'Toole, was thrilled with the new cover, calling it "really cool" and noting that the new cover really brings out the Dark Ages feel of the novel. 

Troy O'Brien,  an award-winning cover designer who has worked for several publishing companies, has created many new cover designs for MMP and its Crystal Dreams Publishing division.  He is now the exclusive cover designer for the publisher.  Alba Aguanno, president of MMP, is impressed with his work, saying "We've had several artists working on our books, but no one has been as responsive, as creative, and (at the same time) as focused on sound book design principles, as Troy.  We are delighted with his work and we've made him a core part of our team."

Voting will begin in early July for June's Book Cover of the Month.  "Clavis" will be one of the competitors for the monthly award.  Aguanno notes that "We are excited about the weekly award, and we'll be even more thrilled if we win the monthly award.  I can't wait to see the voting begin."
